Whether you look at it from a device perspective, or at the delivery platform level, it’s become abundantly clear that there is no longer such thing as a homogenous IT environment. Today’s users are too dynamic and require too much flexibility for the traditional approach to IT. RES has spent a lot of time defining this newly emerging “hybrid desktop” trend, and helping customers adapt to the quickly changing needs of users. Part of our commitment to the hybrid desktop movement is collaborating with other technology providers to really define what this change means, and how we can help customers get ahead of it. One of the most important things to consider is ... READ MORE>>

It’s funny how some of the universal truths of the world we live in can be directly translated in the world of IT. For example, getting philosophical, I’ll reference the well known Maslow’s "hierarchy of needs". Most of us would like to believe that we are at the top level of this pyramid, self actualization. In this level of hierarchy, we desire to realize our full potential, or in other words, be all that we can be. But what happens when both IT professionals and users find themselves at this level of the pyramid?
This constant thrive for self-realization often leads to a paradox. The more you get ... READ MORE>> MAY

With all the hype surrounding Microsoft Management 2011 this week, it’s a great time to reflect on our past history with Microsoft and some exciting future plans. For more than 10 years, RES Software and Microsoft have shared a strong, successful relationship. RES has been an early adopter of each new Microsoft technology, from the first implementations of remote desktops, to the introduction of APP-V and more. We have always embraced new Microsoft technology, and our announcement today surrounding our multi-year strategic commitment to the Microsoft System Center product family is just one example of our future plans with Microsoft. Watch the video below to see RES CTO Bob Janssen and CMO Bill Corrigan explain our relationship with ... READ MORE>>

In our second IT Insight of the year, we focus on how to introduce context-aware computing into your IT environment. Today, it’s fairly common for people to work from different locations, as well as multiple platforms, all in the same work day. This is why context-aware computing is increasingly important. Wherever they are, users need access to their settings, applications and data, but IT still needs to control how and in what situations they should be able to access it.
Creating a context-aware environment allows IT to control what content their users have access to, and when and where they have access to it. Essentially, it allows IT to set the parameters that dynamically create a workspace that is unique ... READ MORE>>
