Rene HeijnenWe recently released RES Workspace Manager 2014 Service Release 1 (SR1) with some great new features. Today I am going to highlight one of those new features. You could already restore user settings to a previous application setting in RES Workspace Manager. With this new release, we have enhanced the solution with new functionality to reset applications to the default configuration. You can give both users and administrators permission to do this reset, and their permissions can be separate from each other. Why Is This Important and What Is the ‘Default Configuration’? So why did we do this? We received customer feedback that, in specific cases, offering a restore ... READ MORE>>

In some scenarios, RES Subscriber is used to lock down a workstation. This is done by simply defining the RES Subscriber as the shell, and then launching a remote desktop. The advantage of this is that the computer then behaves like a thin client with minimal maintenance required. In the past, when using the Citrix Web Interface with the legacy Receiver, it was relatively easy to create the launch command line. It was even possible for administrators to generate custom ICA files. There were many different methods that could be used to launch a Citrix published desktop. However, when using Citrix Receiver 4.x with Citrix StoreFront, it may become a little more complex. The following example may help explain this ... READ MORE>>

Michel RothRES Workspace Manager 2014 Service Release 1 includes an enhancement to the existing whitelisting/blacklisting website security feature, which allows our customers to block problematic and even dangerous websites. Customers can allow users to go on the intranet with this feature. We have enhanced this functionality so that you can audit which allowed websites your users visited, as well as which websites they visited that were blocked. When you track these visited websites using the logging node, you receive the entire URL instead of just the base URL (which you get in the Usage Tracking viewer) which provides you with a much more accurate view of website traffic. For example, if ... READ MORE>>

Dave bryantWe are very proud to announce the release of the RES IT Store 2014 FR 1! Wait… FR? Feature Release? That’s right! The amount of work and rapid development of the RES IT Store demanded a new type of release (our other products currently use service and interim releases in addition to major releases). A feature release contains new features and previous revisions, and is available to all RES Software customers with valid Solutions Assurance. In the past, RES Software would release this type of update as an interim release; however we wanted to make sure that all customers can benefit from this right away. You can download this release ... READ MORE>>

PalIf you’re a Mac fan boy like me then you probably remember those funny Apple commercials from a few years ago including, the PC Innovation Lab. (For a refresher, check it out below.)

Now my reason for referring to this video has nothing to do with mocking a PC (a Mac is a personal computer, is it not?), but I wanted to use this video as an example of what we do here at RES Software. This video is all about innovation that makes people’s lives easier and that is EXACTLY the principle what we follow at RES Software. Our objective is to better the user experience and reduce ...
