How to launch a RES Subscriber session together with Citrix Online Plugin
RES Subscriber offers a generic way to launch a Terminal Server / Citrix session, simple and effective: a command line.
But HOW you will launch a session is up to your individual creativity.
Commonly used commandlines are pointing a rdp file, ica file or PN.exe with application name. Quite straightforward and easy to setup.
But since Citrix ICA client 11.2 Program Neighborhood and TCPBrowserAddress within ICA files is no longer supported, see http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122858
You must find a way to hit that Citrix Web Interface via RES Subscriber but prevent open programs or Internet browsers, else the user has already one or two unwanted ‘Subscribed’ applications within the taskbar.
Here is an easy way to create an ICA file to launch a session using a Citrix Web Interface.
Steps:
1. ‘TCPBrowserAddress’ is not supported anymore within the Citrix Online Plugin clients. But according the Citrix article ‘HTTPBrowserAddress’ is still supported, logically, because this enables the use to connect to a Citrix Web Interface.
2. Knowing this, we need to create a correct ICA file which could connect to your Web Interface. You can create it yourself, but why puzzle when the solution is there: the Citrix IcaFileCreator http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX113472
Look at this:

3. The ICA file will look something like:

4. How does it look like within RES Subscriber?

RES Workspace Extender acts in the background (formerly known as the RES Subscriber Agent). There is no launch button but when connecting via a Citrix Web Interface, or doubleclicking the ica file like above the RES Workspace Extender will activate the virtual Subscriber Channel automatically in order to enable ‘Subscribed’ or ‘Extended’ applications.
Important Note:
Always install RES Subscriber or RES Workspace Extender after the Citrix client installation else the virtual channel could not be initialized and the RES Subscriber or RES Workspace Extender will not become active.
Hope this will put you in the right direction.
Cool Berry!Thank you for your helpfull supplement, let there be many more :-)
When you want to use the RES Subscriber as a shell replacer and have installed pnagent webinterface alreayd you can use Citrix Workspace Control with the subscriber with the following commandline: "%programFiles%\Citrix\ICA Client\pnagent.exe" /QLaunch "Application" or from XenDesktop 4 environments use "%programFiles%\Citrix\ICA Client\pnagent.exe" /QLaunch "Farmname:Application".
